For whatever reason, God always sends me a bunny. In random places that bunnies would have the hardest place getting to, odd places - no grass or trees around and there you have it... a bunny. Just sitting and staring at me. ALWAYS makes my heart smile. We have a bunny that now lives in our backyard. I saw her/him Tues night but that just felt "normal" because it's always there (which I love).
As my mom and I were sitting waiting for dinner, I saw an alert in my neighborhood. This guy had a baby blue jay in the middle of the street and he didn't know what to do.
So, I hopped in the car to go see. There he was on the side of the road. The guy said it was attacked by a raven and he shoo'd it off and he tried to get near the bird but other blue jays were swooping in on him. They were defending this little baby. He also mentioned that it almost got run over by a car. Well of course it did - it's in the street! I just told him I'd handle it.
So I walked over, scooped in up and this little baby immediately nestled into me and tried to sleep. My mom and I pet it a little but I knew this poor thing was exhausted. I tried to get it to perch but he just laid down. So my brain just said... it's exhausted... it needs rest.
Holt just laughed when my mom told him the story and said "of course she went over and got the bird". Time to make a nest.. and he did.
Tristan came out to help, we gathered leaves and twigs and Holt even dug up a worm. I gave it a little water. I know, I know.. you are thinking I should have left it alone. It would have died in the street for sure. If I left the little fledgling in my yard my dogs or the neighborhood cat would have eaten it. So we decided to put it up. I check on it before bed and he was out like a light.
So, in the morning, as soon as I could see I ran out. He was chirping every time I walked away the night before and was chirping when I walked up. It was just perfectly happy in there - so sweet! I picked it up and it perched on my finger! It spread its wings a little so I had great hope.
Mom mom called when I was at work yesterday. Holt was about to give it some bird seed but it was GONE! Not to be seen or found anywhere. I just knew that little birdie would survive. Just had to go through a trial, get poked at and get the help of a "friend".
Just like me. I've been through the ringer, I've been poked... but, God proved - I am not in this alone, I have my family and my friends. I WILL FLY!!!!
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
For we live by faith, not by sight.
