So, we RACK every year and we love it. It can be to people at work, at school.. anyone, anywhere.
We are bringing treats to the office staff at Grace Academy
We brought dog treats and cat treats to Operation Kindness
and then RACK'd some neighbor's dog!
We even left money on vending machines
and we'll continue to do something for the rest of the month.
But on Saturday... this happened.
Tristan got some money from his Bebah and bought some coins to use on this game. He wanted to spend another $20 on it and we had a long chat about saving for something we REALLY wanted, not just spending money because we had it.
Then... from the backseat...
"Mommy, what are all of those Army people doing?"
(Now I'm looking for "Army people")
"OOOOOH buddy, those are people collecting money for Toys-For-Tots"
"What is that?"
"There are kids that don't have toys, so they take donations and get toys for them"
"Mommy, we should give a toy or some money"
"I said ok, let me see if I have $5...."
"I have $20"
and as I'm in the middle of saying "Buddy, that is A LOT of money.... ALL of your money actually"
I hear the window go down, he sticks his hand out and hands the Marine his $20 bill.
HUGE grins on both of their faces.
"Merry Christmas little man, THANK YOU!"
"Merry Christmas to YOU!! You're welcome!!"
And there I am. In the front seat. Humbled. With a tear rolling down my cheek.
We sang Christmas carols all the way home.
He gets it. Makes me SO proud.

I also got really teary eyed after reading this....Thank you for teaching Tristan the importance of giving and being kind and caring. I love you Tristan and I love you, Julie. Grammy is so proud.
